UTV TO LAUNCH NEW UK NATIONAL TALK RADIO STATION
UTV plc will launch a new digital all talk radio station next summer featuring opinionated presentation and lively debate.
Talk Radio, which will be 100% owned by UTV plc, will be available on the new UK digital multiplex which Ofcom awarded to 4 Digital Group today (6 July), of which UTV is a 10% shareholder.
John McCann, Group Chief Executive, UTV plc said: “We are delighted to be part of the winning consortium and I think the array of channels planned for the new multiplex will significantly help the industry drive towards digital.
“From UTV’s perspective we look forward to launching our second national speech channel next summer. Talk Radio will complement our successful talkSPORT service which earlier this week swept the board at the highly prestigious Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards, winning Station of the Year, Programmer of the Year, Technical Innovation and the much coveted overall Gold Award.
