Purchasing Policy
In the interest of good environmental management UTV Media plc (the Group) actively seeks to limit any potential negative impact that its business activities may have on the environment, and accepts its corporate responsibilities in contributing towards environmental improvement.
The Group endeavours to minimise its impact through its procurement practices and engagement with suppliers covering such areas as considering the environmental criteria and life-cycle of purchases, and the transportation and disposal of products and services procured.
Accordingly, through the Procurement Policy and related objectives, the Group will:
- Ensure that, where possible, environmental criteria will be used as an evaluation aspect in the award of contracts.
- Progressively evaluate its existing suppliers' environmental credentials as part of the routine supplier appraisal process.
- Ensure that appropriate consideration is given to using environmentally sustainable materials and products, wherever appropriate in terms of costs and benefits.
- Where feasible purchase recycled products or materials.
- When possible take into account transportation associated with the procurement and delivery of goods or services.
- Consider the life-cycle when purchasing new equipment to ensure that energy efficiency, durability and environmental impact are taken into account.
- Promote awareness of the Procurement Policy amongst employees, sustaining current effective procedures and encouraging good practice in additional areas.
The Group will review the Procurement Policy on a regular basis to incorporate all new regulations, initiatives and technologies.
